What to Expect From New Electric Cars in 2022

There are already many electric options available, ranging from little city cars and inexpensive hatchbacks to stylish SUVs, luxurious barges, and even the latest 2022 sports cars. As more manufacturers jump on the electric bus, that spread will only grow.

Electric vehicles have officially entered the mainstream. The number of new electric car registrations in 2021 exceeded those in the five years prior put together.

But it’s not just new names; brands like Audi and Volkswagen are launching electric vehicles in every class as they gradually phase out combustion engines. Tesla is also extending its lineup once more with a sports car and a pickup truck.

So let’s quickly go through all the major launches from this year and the foreseeable future when it comes to the best electric cars in 2022.

Best Electric Cars 2022: What to Expect This Year and Beyond

The Audi A6 e-Tron:

Thankfully, Audi has shown off both the Sportback and Avant features of the upcoming A6 e-Tron, proving that the future isn’t completely SUV-shaped. It will coexist in transition with the combustion-powered A6 after going on sale sometime in 2024.

The promised results look enticing, with a sub-4.0 second 0-62 mph pace, a 100kWh battery aiming for a 435-mile range in WLTP testing, and an 800-volt architecture allowing for extremely quick charging.

Fisker Ocean

After being absent from the automobile industry for approximately ten years, Fisker is going to make a comeback with its brand-new Ocean electric vehicle. The selectable solar roof, the 17-inch touch interface that can be adjusted to be horizontal or vertical, and what Fisker is calling “California mode,” which lowers all the window frames and pulls back the roof panel at the push of a button to simulate a convertible, all seem to be components that will generate buzz.

The pricing for the four trim levels was revealed by the automaker, with the base front-wheel-drive Sport variant starting at about $40,000 and the top two all-wheel-drive trims coming in at nearly $70,000. The Ocean will be open for bookings in the latter half of 2022, according to Fisker. However, as we’ve seen, this date isn’t marked on a stone.

BMW i7

If you don’t like the company’s recently unveiled design language, the BMW i7 might be the best option for individuals looking for a luxurious, electric saloon. Although the low-slung i7 intends to compete with the Mercedes-EQS, it will be available alongside combustion variants. The actual design of the car is still unknown, but spy photos have shown a blanked-off grille (shape unknown), custom wheels, and EV-specific trim. 600 horsepower and a range of up to 400 miles are both possible with a 105 kWh battery for this car.

Hyundai Ioniq 6

The Ioniq 6, which is here to replace the retro-futuristic SUV/hatchback hybrid Ioniq 5, is a more traditional saloon that was hinted at by the 2020 Prophecy concept car. Though, don’t anticipate it to be quite as slinky in production form.

It is not surprising that it utilizes the E-GMP electric design, which allows for quick charging, the choice of single or twin motor configurations, and a 300+ mile range for vehicles equipped with the larger of the two available batteries.

Genesis GV60

In order to become a zero-emission vehicle brand by 2030 and carbon-neutral by 2035, Genesis has committed to making all of its new cars entirely electric starting in 2025. The GV60, a compact crossover that shares a basis with the Hyundai Ioniq 5 and the Kia EV6, is leading the charge. It comes in two versions, Standard and Performance, with power ranging from 314 to 429 horsepower and is exclusively available in all-wheel drive.

For 10 exciting seconds, a boost mode can increase output to 483 horsepower. It also boasts additional technological advancements like a fingerprint scanner and facial recognition to start the engine from the outside. Our modest experience suggests that the GV60 is quiet, maneuvers nimbly, and rides smoothly.

Honda Prologue

In 2024, Honda will introduce the brand-new Prologue. His electric SUV is being designed in collaboration with General Motors, With a large wheelbase and small overhangs, the automaker markets it as an automobile that is ready for adventure. Honda designers created the aesthetic remotely utilizing digital tools throughout the pandemic, overcoming obstacles to in-person collaboration. A wave of Honda EVs built on its new e: Architecture, along with those produced through collaborations with GM and Sony, will come after the Prologue.

Tesla Cybertruck

The design substitutes the conventional truck structure with a robust stainless steel “exoskeleton,” comparable to airplane design, and extra-strong glass for the windows, in addition to being a unique angular experiment of a truck. Tesla claimed a base price of under $40,000, but given the company’s history of frequent price increases, we take that announcement with a grain of salt. Three different truck models with 250, 350, and 500-mile battery ranges will be available. The fastest version, which can tow 14,000 pounds, claims to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 2.9 seconds. It is anticipated that the prototype will change and become slightly smaller.

With these new models introduced to the market, there’s also a rising need for effective car maintenance. And that’s when Kambio enters the game. We are here to address all of your Tesla tire repair and maintenance concerns, ranging from the Tesla Model X to other electric vehicles currently on the market.

The future has already arrived for electric vehicles. The number of electric vehicles (EVs) available in showrooms has increased significantly over the past few years, and this trend is expected to continue as we get closer to 2035, when all new vehicles will be zero-emission.

Since there are so many electric vehicles coming out, it’s difficult to keep up, so we did the job for you.
